This painting is an interpretation of the The World, the twenty-first and final card in the Major Arcana of the Tarot. It represents the end of a journey, but also renewal: The World keeps spinning, and each revolution is the beginning of the end and the end of the beginning.
The figures depicted (human, dove, bull, and lion) complement the feeling of completion and wholeness in this card, each representing one of the four suites of the Tarot and the four elements of water, air, earth, and fire. The heroine stands in the middle, surrounded by a wreath of victory and holding up The World. Through her wise use of emotion, intellect, hard work, and passion, she begins the renewal of life.
